Where Loam reads

Four sources, all read through official interfaces: Hacker News, GitHub Issues, Stack Exchange, and public review sites.

They were chosen for one property, which is permanence. People return to them, search them years later, and answer each other in them. A complaint that survives in a searchable place for three years is a different kind of evidence from a complaint that scrolled past once.

Reddit is available and off by default. Their commercial terms make it unreliable to depend on, and a product that dies when someone else changes a price is not a product. Loam is built so that never having Reddit costs a column in a chart rather than the business.

Every quote in a brief carries its source, its date and its vote count, so you can open the original and disagree with the reading. If a brief cannot show you where a claim came from, the claim does not appear.
